Mrs. Jessie Mae Hice Doby, age 94, of Galax, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Galax Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on May 22, 1931 in Surry County to the late Brady and Emmie Johnson Hice. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Larry Doby (Becky); grandchildren, Jennifer Elliott (Terry), Shelia Brintle (Tommy), Jason Doby (Shannon); great-grandchildren, Christopher Cockerham, Hunter Elliott, Juliana Doby, Chynna Smith (Avery), Julius Brintle; great-great-grandchild, Colt Cockerham; niece, Peggy Crain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Doby was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Ray Doby. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Pastor Zach Sizemoore. Burial will follow in Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Lowgap. The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1855 Ramey Creek Rd, Lowgap, NC 27024. Online condolences
