Jerry Wayne Day, age 74, Cedar Rapids, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025 at Oldorf Hospice House in Cedar Rapids.
Born on January 28, 1951 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Jerry was the son of Arthur Day and Lolita Hearn. He graduated from City High School in 1969.
Jerry worked for the Iowa City School District and Amana Farms prior to enlisting in U.S. Army. He served in the Army for five years and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1982. He then moved to North Carolina, where he worked in construction. After his retirement, Jerry moved back to Iowa.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Jerry adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending as much time with them as possible.
Jerry is survived by three daughters; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; several aunts and uncles; and a niece.
