Obituary of Naomi R. Steinbrech

Naomi R. McGee Steinbrech, age 64 of rural Solon, died at her home, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, August 24 th. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Iowa City Hospice.

Naomi Ruth McGee was born May 15, 1961, in Minnesota, and adopted by her parents, James and Viola (Schogren) McGee. Growing up in Plymouth, Indiana she graduated from high school there and later received her CNA certification. Moving to this area she married David Steinbrech on April 7, 1984, on the farm. In addition to being Mom and later Grandma (her greatest titles) she had worked at the Solon Care Center and later at the former Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Naomi enjoyed her life, often as a silly, funny, goofy never acting her age type, who liked playing cards, gambling, her friends and of course loving her family!

Her family includes her husband, David; daughters and their husbands, Monica Steinbrech and Giovanni Wuisan and Molly and Jared Erenberger; three grandchildren, Gianna, Hudson and Nola; and four brothers, Tim McGee (Teresa), Tom McGee (Brenda), Jim McGee and Mark McGee (Katy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and her sister-in-law, Sheri McGee.

Naomi's family cannot express their heartfelt thanks and love enough for the compassionate care of their wife, mother and grandmother from Iowa City Hospice.
