Jerry Lee Dupree, 77, of Cairo, Georgia, passed away on June 13, 2025, at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. Born on October 15, 1947, in Thomasville, he lived a life defined by hard work, independence, and the open road. A retired truck driver, Jerry spent much of his life as a contracted driver, dedicating countless hours to traveling across the country. He cherished the freedom of the road and the solitude it offered, often referring to it as "a home away from home." He never met a stranger and had many friends along his routes. He had a deep appreciation for driving a truck, making it a dream come true to spend his life doing what he loved. After retiring, he would still have dreams of being out on the open road. He missed it dearly and found it hard to give up once he retired. Once a year after his long trip from Louisiana to Gloucester, Massachusetts he would come back home and serve family and friends with a fish fry open to everyone. He was always the life of the party, the jokester, he loved telling stories about his youth, making "shine" and his adventures of outrunning the law. Jerry was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served his country with honor. He was a man of strength, and was known for his strong will and determination. He is survived by his children: Angie (Robert) Willis of Cairo, GA; Jerry L. (Melanie) Dupree of Cairo, GA; and Donnie Darlene Dupree of Cairo, GA; a brother, Gayle (Deborah) Dupree of Ochlocknee, GA. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Forrest Dupree and Annie Tyler Dupree; his sister, Francis Smith; and brothers, Richard Dupree and Bobby Dupree.
Jerry will be remembered for his love of the highway, and the impact he had on those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
