Jerry Durflinger Jr., of Mt. Ayr, IN, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 62. He was born on June 24, 1963, in Rensselaer, IN, to Jerry Durflinger Sr. and Lula Mae (Luttrell) Floyd. He was lovingly raised by Lula and Daniel Floyd. Jerry attended the Rensselaer school system and went on to build a life dedicated to his family, work, and community.
On July 2, 1982, Jerry married the love of his life, Sheila Agent, who survives. A skilled and hardworking general contractor, Jerry was self-employed and took great pride in his work. He also served as the current town board president for Mt. Ayr, where he was committed to serving and improving his community.
Jerry had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows. He traveled to help build churches and attended worship services when he was able. Above all, Jerry loved caring for his family and was happiest when surrounded by them.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila; his mother, Lula Floyd; his children, Jeremy Durflinger, Jacob Durflinger, and Chevelle Lovely; grandchildren, Kyra, Ava, Hailey, Kailyn, and Levi; and great-grandchild, August. He is also survived by his siblings, Theresa (Douglas) Hanners, Rick Durflinger, Paul (Stacey) Floyd, and Becky (Chad) Dumas.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Durflinger Sr., and his dad, Daniel Floyd.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM CT at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brent Smith officiating. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, IN.
Jerry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and the deep love he had for his family and community.
Memorials may be made to the family.
