Jerry Fielder Obituary

Visit the Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemeteries - Shreveport website to view the full obituary.

Jerry grew up on a family farm in Red Hill, Texas and learned hard work ethic and providing for his family.

He started out doing truck farming, raising peas, watermelons, and cantaloupes and he traveled all over selling produce. He then left home after graduation and moved to Shreveport and went to work for Riley Beards. He worked for Riley Beards for 28 years as a weld inspector, before retiring. He then went to work serving Calvary Baptist for 19 years as a building and maintenance supervisor. He retired from Calvary in 2004. After retirement, he enjoyed doing a little traveling and visiting with family. He was a long-term member of Calvary Baptist Church and served in the bus ministry there for several years. He was a member of Willow Point Baptist Church in his later years.

He enjoyed working outside, keeping an immaculate yard. He spent many hours sitting on his front porch in a yard swing, just enjoying nature and watering the birds. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was wealthy with friends and family and loved his church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Fielder and Alvia Fielder; his daughter Christina Vincent Bergeron; and his siblings Roy Fielder, Mack Fielder, Jack Fielder, and Wanda Surratt.

He is survived by his daughter Terry Lyons (Monte), Michael Fielder (Sue), Johnny Vincent (Liana), Julie Abalos (Steve), Laura Leftwich (Neal), Rachel McGlothin, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 7 nieces and nephews.
