Jerry Garner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kale Funeral Home - Osceola on Feb. 17, 2025.
Jerry Michael Garner, son of Glen William Garner and Theresa Agnes (Cronin) Garner, was born March 14, 1952, in Osceola, Iowa, and passed peacefully at home on February 13, 2025, at 72 years of age.
Jerry grew up in Jamison, Iowa, graduating from Clarke Community High school. There he met Kayla Rae Garrett. They were married December 5, 1970. They were blessed with two sons, Corey William Garner and Curt Michael Garner.
Jerry began working in high school at Oliver Motors. After graduating, he worked at P&S Station. Jerry worked for 34 years at the Clarke County Engineer Maintenance Department. He traveled thousands of miles of rural Clarke County gravel roads as a road maintainer. He also farmed raising hogs, horses, sheep, and cattle on the family farm in Jamison, before moving to the farm at the end of a dead-end road. It was there, he enjoyed sitting on his porch at night listening to the hounds stir up a good race. He loved coyote hunting with his brother Dick, and they passed this appreciation of the sport to all his grandchildren. Jerry loved attending sheep shows to watch his sons and grandchildren share in this experience. Jerry enjoyed being around his friends and family to socialize and reminisce, especially if it was a fish fry - his favorite.
Those relatives who preceded Jerry in death were his parents; brothers, Dick Garner and Jimmy Garner; sisters, Wilene Sanders, Shirley Chandler, and Barb Croat; in-laws Charles and Joyce Garrett.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Kayla; children, sons, Corey (Lori) Garner of Lorimor, Curt Garner of Osceola; Grandchildren, Garett (Ashton) Garner, Calli (Carter) Wilken, Chace (Kirsten) Garner, Brandon Garner, Westin Garner; great grandson, Kohen Garner; sister, Jean (Bill) Walton of Hugo, MN; brother-in-law, Mike Croat of St. Mary's, IA, several nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Celebration of his life will be held at the Gerry Allen Memorial Park, in New Virginia, 809 West Street on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 11:30 am until 5:00 pm.
