Jerry Neal Guin passed away Monday, February 24, 2025. Jerry was born to Fred and Ruby Guin in Vivian, Louisiana on January 31, 1938. Jerry was among the first graduating class of North Caddo High School in 1956. He received his BS in Business Administration at Centenary College of Louisiana in 1961 and also received his Second Lt. Commission in ROTC. He went on to serve in the United States Army while stationed in Ft. Lee Virginia. During his service he served as Administrative and Supply Officer at the Quartermaster School. After three years of active duty, he received an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Captain. Upon returning to civilian life, Jerry returned to work at SWEPCO where he started his career as night dispatcher. After graduating from college Jerry worked in the accounting department at SWEPCO in Shreveport. Later he worked as the Vivian District Manager where he retired after 34 years of service.
Jerry was a member of the Vivian Presbyterian Church for many years where he served as an Elder and Treasurer. He also served a four year term on the Vivian Town Council. He was a member of the American Legion and Forty & Eight organizations. While serving the community with the Kiwanis Club, he was president of the Vivian Club before serving as Outstanding Lt. Governor of the Northwest region of Kiwanis for two terms.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruby Guin; brother, Billy Ray Guin and granddaughter, Krystal LeeAnn Guin.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Rita Guin, whom he married at the Plain Dealing Presbyterian Church on June 30, 1979. Also surviving Jerry are his sons, Jon Guin, David Guin and wife, Rita, and Jay Guin and wife, Tonya; grandchildren, Bonnie Westbrook and husband, Jonathan, Jacob Guin and wife, Kaley, Sarah Lincecum and husband, Justin, Chaz Guin and wife, Brittany, Brandon Wheeler and wife, Jessica, Justin Wheeler and wife, Jenna and great-grandchildren, Amber, Jaxxon, Tyson, J. P., Braylon, Shyann, Jayden, Lily, Kadence, and Madelyn.
Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 on Saturday, March 1, 2025, followed by the service at 11:00. The Christian Service will be conducted by Rev. John M. Korlaske. Private interment will follow.
Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Jon Guin, David Guin, Jay Guin, Jacob Guin, Jonathan Westbrook, and Justin Lincecum. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gail Lowery, Joe McDonald and Bruce Burback.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charities of the donor’s choice.
