Mooringsport, LA – A memorial service will be held for Julie Anne Akes Hamblin at 2:00 PM on March 7, 2026 at Tower Baptist Church, 6103 Highway 169, Mooringsport, Louisiana. Bro. Jim Gstohl will officiate and be speaking on behalf of the family. She will be laid to rest at the Green Family Cemetery at a later date.
Julie came into this world with a bang on July 4, 1964 and she left us to go to her Heavenly Home on February 21, 2026.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents, James & Jaynell Akes; brother, Donny Akes; husband of 26 years and lifelong companion, Paul Hamblin; stepson Shane Hamblin; grandparents T.E & Nellie Green and George & Nadine Akes.
Left here to honor and cherish her memory are her son Justin Hamblin and Sybil Vines; sister Karen Akes and husband Carl Dupont; her nephews, David & Cody Akes; her nieces Lacey Kinch and Megan Estay and all of their families; her grandchildren, Axle, Corie, Zachary, Leah, Kamryn, and Jaxson; and many other family members and friends that loved her dearly.
Julie loved working side by side with her mother, Jaynell, as a water operator for over 20 years. She became a member of Tower Baptist Church in the late 70’s. She enjoyed doing research on her family history. She loved music and concerts. She always had on a shirt from a concert her & Paul had attended. She loved being outdoors and spending time at Caddo Lake with Paul. Most of her time was spent with her dogs and they were loved like family. She loved to ride her Harley Davidson motorcycle; but she loved Justin and her family most of all. Julie had a beautiful smile and a very kind heart; but sometimes she could be a little firecracker, as most of you know.
Julie missed her father, mother, Donny and Paul fiercely. We will miss Julie just as much until we see her again.
