Jerry Eugene Hanlen, 89, of Greenview passed away on September 29, 2024, at his home. He was born on September 20, 1935, in Peoria to Ed and Dorothy (Dosier) Hanlen.
After serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, Jerry settled in the Los Angelos area working as an aircraft maintenance lead man at TWA for over 30 years. During his Retirement, Jerry enjoyed travelling, going to Farm Sales/Auctions, attending car shows and dining out. Also, Jerry was a member of the Middletown American Legion Post #672.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl Hanlen, son Bill Hanlen, nephew Doug Hanlen, and cousins Robert Martin, John Dosier and Dick Dosier.
Jerry is survived by his cousin Jack (Pat) Dosier of Baraboo WI, Sister-in-law Wilma (Bruce) Haskins, Nephew Tom Hanlen of Lincoln, Caregivers Ed and Coni Whitcomb of Greenview, close friends Tom and Mary Welch of Lincoln and Wayne and Mary Lee of California.
Graveside service's will be held Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to: Camp Butler National Cemetery Gift Fund 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, Illinois 62707. Online condolences for the family can be left at www.hurleyfh.com. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry was a funny and unique patient. The office always enjoyed hearing of his travels out west every fall. Have thought about him many times since my retirement. One thing he never shared was that he is a Korean War Vet.
