Jerry Adda Hasiuk (April 4, 1941-June 29, 2025)
Jerry Hasiuk, 84, of Oldsmar, Florida, passed away on June 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born April 4, 1941, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of Ukrainian immigrants, Samuel Hasiuk and Mary Kozowy.
From a young age, Jerry was a hard worker who was dedicated and persistent, and put in the effort needed to achieve his goals. As a teenager, he found odd jobs wherever he could. He thrived on hard work with a discipline and focus that became the foundation of a successful real estate and building business.
Jerry was extremely well-read, always sharing his passion for holistic medicine and politics to anyone willing to lend an ear. He had a unique perspective on life and loved to share tidbits of wisdom with his friends and family. One of his favorite sayings that he applied to everything was "measure twice, cut once".
Jerry was always a skilled athlete. In his younger years he was a formidable figure in bodybuilding. He went on to work with the Manitoba Body Building Association and was involved in judging with the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, and Mike Katz. He was also an avid handball player. Jerry's love for handball continued on throughout his life and he met many close friends through the sport. He played until he was 80!
Jerry was blessed to meet the love of his life, Evelyn, at a young age. Evelyn was a clerk at the City of Winnipeg when Jerry, who worked for the Manitoba Telephone System, was fixing her phone. It was love at first sight! They married in 1961 and spent 64 beautiful years building a family and a life together. They shared many passions throughout the years - travel, racquetball, handball, working out, running marathons, and attending the ballet, theatre, and symphony topped the list.
Jerry will be remembered in the hearts of his wife of 64 years Evelyn; his daughter Carol and son-in-law John; his grandchildren Amanda (Adem) and Angela (Logan); his great-grandchildren Luca, Presley, Ada, and Augustus; his brother Ted (Jan); his brother-in-law Steve; his nieces and nephews Gregory (Sandra), Mary-Ann, Patricia, Laura (Charles), Lisa (Kevin), Ashley (Justin), Chris (Dulsha), Whit (Nicole); his great-nephew, Luke. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Mary Hasiuk, his parents-in-law Steve and Elizabeth Zaparnick, sister Stephanie, brother-in-law Dan, sister-in-law Maureen, and nephew Peter.
Jerry changed the lives of everyone he touched. He did it time and time again, often without asking - just out of generosity and the goodness of his heart. Jerry was a builder, not just of buildings, but of people.
Jerry will always be remembered for his quick wit, endless life wisdom, encouragement, and willingness to tell a joke. We will miss him every day and he will continue to live on in the hearts of those who love him. And yes, we will always remember to "measure twice, cut once."
There will be a service celebrating Jerry's life at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, at 10:30 am.
