Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on January 27, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 60. Jerry's life was a testament to his deep faith, love for his family, and passion for life's simple joys.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jerry was a guiding light to those around him. He spent his career as a dedicated manager at Wrigglesworth Ace Hardware in Wilmington, where he cherished the relationships, he built with colleagues and customers alike. Jerry's work ethic and positive spirit made every interaction meaningful and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Jerry's faith in God was the cornerstone of his life, and he found community and spiritual growth as a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. His faith guided him through life's challenges and successes, always inspiring those around him to seek goodness and kindness.
Aside from his professional life and faith, Jerry's greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved family. He was a loving husband to Kimberly, his wife of 42 years, and a devoted father to his daughters, Jessica Hatfield and husband Robert Kidder of Bolivia, and Khristin Hatfield of Wilmington. As a grandfather, he adored his grandchildren, Hunter Kidder and Harper Kidder, who were his pride and joy.
Jerry found peace and happiness in his favorite activities: playing softball, fishing, and creating unforgettable memories with family and friends. These moments highlighted his appreciation for life's beautiful experiences.
Preceded in death by his parents, Rondal Willard Hatfield and Janice Helen Akers Hatfield, Jerry's legacy continues through those he loved. Survived by his brother Ron Hatfield of Columbia, SC, and his sister-in-law, Pamela Hilliard and husband Matthew; a brother-in-law, Mark Skiles and wife, Debbie all of
Beckley, WV, Jerry leaves behind not just family but a host of cherished friends.
