Jerry Hatton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chandler Funeral Home - Ellettsville Chapel on Apr. 10, 2024.
Jerry Edward Hatton, a cherished family man and skilled craftsman, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024, in Freedom, Indiana, at the age of 79. Born on January 20, 1945, in Bloomington, Indiana, Jerry's life was full of the values of love, hard work, and dedication.
Raised by his beloved grandfather, Brance Edward Polley, Jerry developed a strong sense of family and a love for the outdoors. He carried these values throughout his life, creating a warm and loving home with his wife of 54 years, Anna Marie (Eller) Hatton. Together, they raised a family that included their son Brance Hatton and his wife Anne of Ellettsville, Jerry Hatton, Jr. of Spencer, and their daughter Melissa Allen, who preceded him in death.
Jerry's legacy continues through his son-in-law, Ray Allen of Spencer, and his cherished companion, Kim Robinson. He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Chase Lenning and his wife Brandi, Katie Ranard and her husband Drake, Brady Allen and his wife Katie, Elisha and her husband Steve, and Kara Gagnon and her husband Chris. His joy was further multiplied by eight great-grandchildren, with another on the way. Jerry is also survived by his brother, Bobby Hatton.
Throughout his career, Jerry was known for his work ethic and craftsmanship. He was employed at Northern Propane Gas Company, served as a general contractor, and was associated with Black Lumber. His hands were rarely still, as he was an avid hunter and an exceptional woodworker. The pieces he created are treasured by his family and serve as a lasting reminder of his talent and thoughtfulness.
Jerry was a man of many virtues-loving, handy, and thoughtful. He loved being with his family and his loyal dogs, and these moments have left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and joy to his loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stinesville Lions Club, 8060 N. Stinesville Road, Stinesville, IN 47464 on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
