Jerry Herbick

Jerry Herbick passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, with his family present.

Beloved husband of Mary nee Regan for over 56 years. Adored father of James R. Herbick and Carolyn M. (Dick) Turner. Cherished grandfather of Henry, Madelyn and Charlie Turner. Loving son of the late Sylvester and Emily Herbick. Caring brother of LaMera (Paul) Graf, uncle of Randy (Pat) Graf and Ramie (Kenny) Kelly. Friend to all who knew him.

Jerry graduated Schurz High School, and entered Washburne Trade School, to become a chef. His career began at age 18 at Maxim's de Paris in Chicago. He went on to work at the Philadelphia Country Club, to open his own restaurant, the Sauganash Inn, and to teach culinary arts at Westinghouse High School.

Jerry was known for his sense of humor, often goofy, his love of cooking and wine, and his enormous vegetable

garden, which supplied produce to many neighbors. He was devoted to his family and friends, a big man with a big

heart. He will be sorely missed.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago, IL from 3-8pm. Family and friends are invited to meet at the funeral home on Friday, February 6, at 9:00 AM for closing prayers and a procession to Queen of All Saints Basilica for a 10:00AM memorial mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Jerry's honor.
