Dr. Herbick was a Holy Man. He understood spiritual healing as well as the physical. He will always be remembered by his friends at Catholic Charities Health Fairs who had the privilege of sitting next to him and listening to his kind interactions with families. Rest in Peace John.

I often think of Dr. Herbick and his contributions to the poor. He lived his Christian values. I just knew of a few instances. His time donated to the Health Fairs , going to Lourdes and sharing his experiences with the volunteers inspiring all of us. God welcomed him to his eternal rest.

I attended grammar school with John at Our Lady Gate of Heaven and we also went to Mendel high school together. He was always a much better student than I was but he always had a way of encouraging me without acting superior. We went our separate ways in life but reconnected a month before his passing.Even though not well,John was very concerned about how I was doing.Such a caring friend as a boy and such a wonderful man as an adult.RIP buddy

Dear Family of Dr. Herbick. I was truly blessed to be a patient of Dr. Herbick for many years. He truly was an amazing, understanding, compassionate and gentle man. We had one thing in common, his love and respect for the Poor Clare Sisters. God bless his beautiful spirit.

Dr Herbick was instrumental in starting Catholic Charities Health Fairs and managed the check out table at every event giving a warm smile, and a welcome message helping people who had never had a medical home understand the next steps to care. He saved lives and healed souls. I will be forever grateful to him for his service to the poor.

Dearest Herbick Family-
We would like to express our deepest and sincere condolences to Julie and the entire Herbick family. Our prayers go out to all of you for comfort and healing. Dr. John was our amazing and wonderful doctor for over 20 years. He was always the nicest, kindest, and most compassionate doctor we ever known, and we feel so blessed to have had him as our doctor. He was so much more that a doctor for he became a best friend, brother in Christ, member of the family and mentor! John always shared much more than just his medical knowledge at our appointments. His insight, wisdom and strong faith was a cornerstone of John´s demeanor and he enriched our lives and our souls. Now he is an Angel and John is with God forever.
Love and prayers,
Jeff and Cheryl Studzinski

On behalf of Catholic Charities, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Julie and family on your loss. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers are with you during this difficult time. John was a great man, who was committed to helping those less fortunate. The dedication and support he gave while serving on our Board of Advisors was an inspiration to those whose lives he has touched. May you find comfort in knowing that John is now at peace.

My deepest sympathy to your family on your loss of a great Dr. and man.
The kindest most caring and compassionate Dr. I have ever known.
He diagnosed my son with a childhood cancer & quickly got us to Children"s.
He offered continued support , while he was under the care of others to our entire family, one of which was offering to give him injections that we were to administer...while coming in for them one day, he gave Mark a picture of his 5year old daughter Emily & told him that they both pray every day for him....I hope he always knew how grateful we were for those prayers as well as the care he gave to both of my sons & us while he was our Dr. That son is 36 years old today & father of two beautiful daughters.
We share in your deep sadness, but are grateful to have had him in our lives.

I worked across the hall from Dr. Herbick at LCMH. I remember him mainly for his spirituality and kindness to patients and co-workers.
I so appreciated that he saw the person as a whole. He realized faith was as important as physical well being. God bless him. He is surely in heaven.

Julie,
Deeply sorry for you family's loss. John and I met through mutual friends back in our college days. We were among a group of Southsiders who over the years shared many experiences, most were entertaining and some were highly amusing. You've probably heard endless recounts of many of these adventures. Through it all we came to know John as the tremendously caring, thoughtful, intelligent person that he will always be remembered as. Most importantly at a time like this, his enduring faith was inspirational to all of us, especially those of us who wavered over the years. And personally, his example caused me to reflect on my own beliefs. For that, I will always be grateful.
With heart-felt condolences to the family.

I was very saddened to hear this news. Dr. Herbick was a good and kind man. I knew him since grade school on the south side of Chicago then years later I brought my father to him as a patient. This is truly a loss. My prayers go out to his entire family.
