The family of Jerry Dean Jacob, 90, of Carmine, Texas, is saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his home in Carmine.

Jerry was born on June 24, 1935, in Carmine, the "baby" of the family to the late Emil Paul Jacob, Jr. and Laura Augusta Krause. He grew up in the area, was baptized and confirmed there, and graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School in 1953.

On December 2, 1956, Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Mueller, a title he often proudly proclaimed. They shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, during which they built homes, businesses, and raised their growing family. Jerry and Barbara both worked in Jacob's Store/Jake's Egg business for over 60 years. In 1981, they purchased Carmine Feed and Fertilizer, working in that business together until their retirement.

Jerry was a proud veteran, having served in the National Guard for eight years, including one year on active duty at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Professionally and civically, Jerry was a dedicated leader in his community. He served as President of the Carmine Fire Department for many years and prided himself on bringing in up to $10,000 in cash donations each and every year for the last 15 years. He even executed this duty this past year, when his health was failing, bringing in more than $13,500 in cash donations. Jerry was the President of the Lions Club in 1976, and had been a director of the Fayette Savings Association since its inception in 1978. One of his greatest personal accomplishments was becoming the first Mayor of Carmine, a position he held from 1973 to 1986. A main goal during his tenure was seeing a city sewer system installed and implemented, a reality achieved in 1984. Jerry was also instrumental in bringing the Carmine City Park into being; the park was dedicated in 1982 after four years of work. He was also a member of the Carmine Martin Luther Lutheran Church, the Carmine Chamber of Commerce, and the Carmine Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein.

A lifelong sports fan, Jerry often bragged to his kids and grandkids about his undefeated high school basketball team. He and Barbara became avid Houston Oilers fans, following the team to all home and some away games. He continued to support the Texans and watched every sports game available up until his death. Jerry channeled his passion for sports into coaching and managing his "Jake's Eggs" slow-pitch softball teams from 1973-1986. He made many friends along the way and loved to boast that his team won at least 90% of their games played (though statistics cannot confirm, his pride was evident).

While proud of his teams and the many tournaments won over the years, nothing compared to the many miles he and Barbara logged going to the sports events and rodeos their grandchildren were involved in. He took immense pride in his grandkids and their accomplishments both on and off the field, where everyone knew "Granny & Grandpa Jacob" on the sidelines. As time passed, his pride grew even more with the arrival of great-grandchildren, never passing up the opportunity to brag on the accomplishments of his family and the "inherited beauty" of his great-grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Emil Paul Jr. and Laura Augusta, and his siblings Kervin E. Jacob, Sylvia Sanders Jacob, E.P. Jacob, Jr., and A.G. Jacob.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean; his children, Sheila & Tom Supak of La Grange, Texas, and Lane & Robyn Jacob of Carmine, Texas; grandchildren Tyler & Jenifer Supak of College Station, Texas, Kyle & Brittney Supak of San Antonio, Texas, Dylan & Chase Matzke of College Station, Texas, Trey & Sarah Supak of Bellville, Texas, Tanner & Brittany Jacob of Carmine, Texas, Taylor & Shane Hanchey of Carmine, Texas, and Tucker & Caitlin Jacob of Carmine, Texas. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Jacob, Tyler Supak, Kyle Supak, Tucker Jacob, Trey Supak, Shane Hanchey, Chase Matzke, and Jerrid Jeter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bubba Etzel, Toney Dooley, Ronnie Hinze, Charlie Hodde, Russell Klump, Reuben Wunderlich, and Byron Weigelt.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department, Brazos Valley Hospice, or the Carmine Martin Luther Lutheran Church.

The family extends a special thank you to Berneake Gantt, Jerrid Jeter, and their healthcare team for all the love, patience, and genuine kindness they showed Grandpa. They also want to thank the teams at Accent Health Care and Brazos Valley Hospice. This time in their lives was extremely hard, and they all had a hand in making it easier on Granny & Grandpa and their entire family. Our heartfelt thanks will never be enough.
