Jerry Johnson Obituary

He is survived by his children Jerry Jr. (Wife Kimm), Debbie (Husband Tony), Ken (Wife Shelley) and Scott (Meredith). He is also survived by his Very Special Friend Polly Withey, sister Barbara Kormelink (Husband Richard, d.) brother Walter (Wife Paula). Jerry had five Great- Great Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 11 Grandchildren. Preceding Jerry in death were his parents Walt & Helen, wives Sandra and Judy, Brother John Johnson (Wife Susie), Son Billy and Grandson Andy.
Jerry received his Masters of Science in Mathematics Education from Western Michigan University, 1964. Jerry and his family moved to Howell, MI in 1970 where he taught High School Algebra, Geometry and Driver's Education. Jerry retired from teaching in 1999. Jerry initiated the Howell Recreation Area Youth Basketball program, Varsity Summer Basketball travel league and Tuesday-Thursday Golf League (FKA Howell ELKS Golf League). Jerry coached Boys Basketball for 24 seasons, Girls Basketball 8 seasons and was elected by his colleagues and peers into the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Hall of Fame in 2010.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 21st at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes McDonald's Chapel in Howell, Michigan. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the start of the Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Howell ELKS Major Project Fund.

Jerry will be missed, he always brought a joy to any event. He made us laugh and he was kind. A great teacher and friend to so many. Please know how dearly he was thought of and know we keep all his loved ones and family in our thoughts and prayers. Mary and Wayne Florida
