Services for Mr. Jerry Ray Johnson, 85, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Caney Creek Cowboy Church, with Bro. Randy Edwards officiating.

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Jerry Johnson, 85, of Grand Saline, passed away September 23, 2025. He was born June 6, 1940, in Lebanon, Indiana, to Homer Charles and Gladys Marguerite Shelburne Johnson.

Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later married Catherine Hause on April 5, 1977, in River Forest, Illinois. His life’s work was devoted to sharing his faith. He spent many years traveling the country in evangelistic and mission work, pastoring churches, and reaching people wherever God called him. Alongside ministry, he also worked as a truck driver, enjoying the road and the people he met along the way.

For the past decade, Jerry and Cathy made their home in Grand Saline, where they became members of Caney Creek Cowboy Church. His faith, kindness, and commitment to service touched countless lives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle Edward Johnson and Johnny J. Johnson; son-in-law, James Frazier; and brother-in-law, Garry Hause.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Cathy Johnson of Grand Saline; three daughters, Lorraine Frazier of Grand Saline, Ronauda Sills and husband Destry of Grand Saline, and DeNean Dodd of Campbell; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Nancy & Tom Messer of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Patricia Hause; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeremy), Bryce (Kaylyn), Destry Scott (Staci), Autumn, Brittany (Shawn); twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Destry Scott Sills, Bryce Dodd, Ryan Johnson, Robert Janeway, C.K. Sills, and Shawn Matthews.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
