Jerry Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fern Creek Funeral Home - Louisville on Mar. 18, 2026.
William Gerald Johnson, Sr. ("Jerry") of Louisville, age 82, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Johnson, his mother, Ruby Brand Johnson, and his brother, Warren Ray Johnson.

Jerry was the beloved husband of Laura H. Johnson, with whom he shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life grounded in love, commitment, and countless cherished memories.

A devoted father, Jerry is survived by his four children: Jerry Johnson Jr. (Trish), Michele Johnson McCloughan (Bob), Tony Johnson (Carrie), and Bobby Johnson (Tami). He was deeply proud of his family and found his greatest joy in the time spent with them. He is also survived by his brother, Allen Johnson of Jacksonville, FL.

He was also a proud and loving grandfather to Josh Johnson, Ashley McCloughan, John Johnson, Brittni Wright, Kendra Foust, Patrick Smith, TJ Johnson, Gabrielle Johnson, Madison Linhardt, Hannah Taylor, and Alyssa Johnson. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Jerry was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, who added even more love and light to his life.

Jerry had a gift for storytelling and could captivate anyone with his tales, often filled with humor and heart. He loved cracking jokes and making others laugh, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Whether gathered around the table or simply enjoying each other's company, Jerry had a way of bringing people together.

He found peace in fishing, where he could relax and enjoy the quiet moments, and he took great pleasure in browsing and finding treasures while shopping on Temu-always eager to share his latest discovery. At home, he adored his dog, Peanut, who was a constant companion and a source of comfort and happiness.

Jerry was a hardworking man throughout his life, dedicated to providing for his family and doing every job with integrity and pride. His strong work ethic and steady presence were examples to all who knew him.

Above all, Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man whose humor, kindness, and stories will live on in the hearts of those he loved.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.

His funeral is 12pm Wednesday, March 25, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation is after 10am until the time of the service.
