Jerry D. Lantz, 84, Logansport, passed away peacefully, at midnight, on October 9, 2021, at the Woodbridge Assisted Living Center.
Born March 4, 1937, in the former St. Joseph Hospital in Logansport, Jerry was the youngest and last surviving child of the six children born to the late Fredrick and Maggie (Cohee) Lantz.
Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Deer Creek High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1959-1961 as a teletype operator.
On June 12, 1963, in Logansport, Jerry was married to Linda D. (Dinius) Lantz. He was her right hand man and supported her in all her accomplishments. Jerry absolutely adored her and loved caring for her. Following a long hard-fought battle with cancer, Linda passed away on January 14, 2015.
Jerry was retired from Rockwell International. A skilled woodworker, following his retirement, Jerry turned his passion into a business called, "Frametime." Always smiling, Jerry enjoyed framing the treasures his clients brought to him. Like the old saying goes, "Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life." That was Jerry. He had a gentle spirit and a very kind soul.
Jerry always looked forward to breakfast at Bullshipper's with his daughter. His grandchildren kept him young with all of their sporting activities and he was always there to cheer them on.. Jerry attended the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church. He was an avid IU fan and he and his wife were football season ticket holders for many years. Jerry was a former member of the Elks Lodge No. 66 and also enjoyed being part of the Radio-controlled Airplane Club. Jerry made new friends easily and his family would like to thank his neighbors and caregivers at Woodbridge for their love and care.
Surviving are his daughter, Laura Lantz Worthington, of Logansport; grandchildren Amy K. Worthington, Dallas, Texas, and Bryan W. Worthington, Sandusky, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, parents and siblings, Jerry was preceded in death by one son, David Lantz.
A funeral service celebrating Jerry's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 14 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harry Roselle officiating.
Burial, with, full military honors, will be held in Bethel Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 13 in the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society.
