Julia K. Lachner, 33, of Lafayette passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at IU Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
Born on July 28, 1992, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Edward and Margaret (Tokoly) Bruemmer, Julia was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt.
Julia was a 2011 graduate of Westville High School, where she was an active member of the softball team, captain of the pom squad and was crowned prom queen. She went on to earn her degree from Purdue University.
On Dec. 10, 2016, Julia married Cody Lachner in Otis, and together they have a cherished daughter, Palmer Lachner. Julia adored Palmer and loved being her mother.
Julia always put others first in every aspect of her life and lived in service to others. She gave her entire heart and soul to everyone in her life.
She had a deep appreciation for the military and veterans and dedicated her time to volunteering with organizations such as Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette and Combat Cookies. Professionally, she worked for XY Planning Network and was passionate about her work supporting the financial planning industry.
Julia was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying numerous trips to Alaska, one of her favorite places. She also had a passion for music and loved attending concerts. Above all, Julia loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her parents, Edward and Margaret Bruemmer; her husband, Cody Lachner; their daughter, Palmer; her siblings, Jon Bruemmer, Jason (Nikki) Bruemmer and Jenny Robinson; and her nieces and nephews, Sullivan, Annabel, Camden, Eli, Jordan and Jasmyn. Julia was a classmate of mine and my next door neighbor growing up. She always was very nice and kind to me in school and her and her family were great neighbors who were friends of ours. When we were little kids we would often play together in our backyards. She will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family during this time.
