Cindy Yvonne McCann, 54, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away on Jan. 8, 2026. Born on Sept. 21, 1971, Cindy was known for her vibrant and outgoing personality, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Cindy's educational journey began at Westville Elementary/Middle School and concluded at Westville High School. Her early career saw a variety of jobs, which eventually led her to find her passion as an administrative secretary at NITCD (South Shore), a position she held with dedication until her untimely death.
Cindy's life was enriched by her deep relationships with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Steve McCann; son, Austin McCann; mother, Sharon Hughes; sister, April Hughes; and brother, Dougie Hughes. Her father, Elmer Hughes, preceded her in death.
Her hobbies included enjoying the sun and the beach, always cherishing the time spent on vacations with her loved ones. Cindy's zest for life and the joy she brought to gatherings will be dearly missed.
Though there will be no memorial service, a celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Cindy's memory. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page is being established to support her family during this challenging time. Cindy's legacy of warmth, friendship and kindness will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
