Dr. Jerry R. Lewis, age 79, a distinguished educator and beloved member of the Boothwyn community, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at Pine View Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was 79 years old. Born on December 16, 1945, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Jerry grew up in Trainer and graduated from Eddystone High School in 1963. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education at West Chester University, which served as the foundation for a lifelong commitment to teaching. He continued his education, earning his Masters at Villanova University and Doctorate at Temple University.
Jerry proudly dedicated his career to shaping the minds of students, culminating in his role as the assistant superintendent of Ridley High School. His impact on education extended far beyond the classroom, inspiring countless individuals, both young and old, to excel academically and athletically.
Jerry was the cherished son of the late Richard Lewis and Mary (Burk) McCool. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Francis Lewis.
SURVIVORS: He leaves behind his loving children, Jennifer Owens (Phil) and John Lewis; his devoted sisters, Dorothy Miller and Trudy Quillen; as well as his adored grandchildren, Morgan, Mackenzie, Miranda, Autumn, Chase, and Sarah, and great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his former wife, Rosemary McNeal.
In honor of Jerry's remarkable life and legacy, a public visitation will take place on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM at Nolan-Fidale Funeral Home, located at 5980 Chichester Avenue, Aston, Pennsylvania. A eulogy service will follow at 3:30 PM, providing family and friends an opportunity to celebrate and remember the profound impact Jerry had on so many lives.
Following these services, Jerry will be honored with a private burial at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, held at the convenience of the family. As we gather to remember Dr. Jerry R. Lewis, we reflect on his dedication to education, his warmth, and his unwavering support for his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
