Jerry L McCown

Jerry L. McCown, age 72, of Knoxville, was called home suddenly on July 24, 2023. Though we are sad to be separated from him, we must celebrate his purpose-driven life. Jerry's faith in God, love of family, and strong work ethic enabled him to be a strong provider. As a young man, he became a master brick mason. Soon his independent spirit drove him to become a custom home builder with his brother. Jerry loved his work building homes for beautiful families. He always had a funny story and a way of making hard work fun.
His parents Dorothy Bridges McCown and A.J. McCown precede him as well as his infant son Daniel.
Jerry was very proud of his brothers Mike, Steve, R.P., Roger, Jeff, and Jimmy.
Jerry's legacy includes his sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Betty and daughter Joy (Bruce Chaffins) grandchildren: Garret, Connor, Victor.
Jerry was a proud Uncle to countless nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 5:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Karns Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 7:00 p. m., Pastor Edwin Jones to officiate. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 am on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Lynch Bethel Cemetery.
