Jerry Morgan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McLin Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Jan. 1, 2026.
Jerry Caldwell Morgan Sr. passed away peacefully in his home in Walker, Louisiana, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at the age of 91 years and 5 months.

Jerry was born on July 29, 1934, in Wisner, Louisiana. He graduated from Wisner High School and went on to earn his master's degree plus 30 additional graduate hours from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Ann Jennings Morgan, on September 11, 1953. Together, they shared 70 wonderful years of marriage, standing side by side through life's joys and challenges.

Jerry was a man of strong Christian faith. His faith guided his life and was evident in the way he loved his family, served others, and lived with humility and kindness. He found strength and comfort in his relationship with Christ, which remained central throughout his life.

He dedicated 27 years to education as a teacher, coach, and principal, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Jerry played an instrumental role in helping establish Walker High School's football program and in the construction of Wildcat Stadium. His passion for mentoring children and guiding young people defined his career and legacy.

Outside of education, Jerry was a gifted carpenter, well known for building porch swings and completing many projects for his beloved wife. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, including feeding birds and caring for stray animals that crossed his path.

Jerry was a devoted husband and father, and above all, he cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored deeply.

Jerry is survived by his two sons, Jerry C. Morgan Jr. and wife Becky, and Bobby Morgan and wife Kim; two granddaughters, Heather Boley and husband Wesley, and Hope Valenti and husband Jake; three great-granddaughters, Whittney Boley, Emma Valenti, and Ava Valenti; and one brother, Phillip Morgan and wife Nyla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S.A. and Sara Morgan; sisters, Peggy McMannis and Betty Talbert; and brothers, Robert Morgan, Edward Morgan, Richard Morgan, Tommy Morgan, and Bruce Morgan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Walker Baptist Church in Walker, Louisiana, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until funeral services begin at 12:00 p.m. Services will be officiated by Alton Foster. Burial will follow in Walker Baptist Cemetery in Walker, Louisiana. A reception will follow at the church.

Mr. Morgan had a profound effect on me both personally and professionally during my days working with him at Walker High. He was a great leader who set high standards and challenged his teachers to be superior in all endeavors. Walker High students excelled under his direction and achieved greatness in every field imaginable. When I approached Mr. Morgan about starting a Christian Student organization under the direction of Brother Hal Santos called Campus Encounters, he gave his full approval. Every Wednesday morning the gym at WHS was packed and I'm sure lives were changed.Over the years I have witnessed much greatness come out of Walker High ,no doubt a reflection of this great leader.May Jerry, his family, friends and students continue to be blessed.
