Bobby Barber Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McLin Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Feb. 25, 2026.
Bobby Jean Barber (known as BJ, Mama, babe, babydoll, and – her favorite – Mimi) was born on 3 September 1973 at Lallie Kemp Hospital in Independence, Louisiana, to parents Bobby Beard Sr. of Liberty, Mississippi, and Patricia Irene Hartley of Rome, Georgia, and passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026. She married Christopher Dewight Barber on 29 April 1992 at First United Pentecostal Church of Livingston, Louisiana. She always did claim that was one of the happiest days of her life.

Through her life, she held many occupations, but the most important to her was being a Stay-at-Home Mom and Wife to her four daughters. She got involved in just about anything and everything from the first field trips to the school marching band and even had an entire school system from elementary to high school afraid of her. She was very involved in anything her girls ever had a hand in.

Then, as things tend to do, there came the sons-in-law and grandchildren. She loved those babies almost more than life itself. She was there for every one of their births and wouldn't have had it any other way.

There are no words to explain just how much she touched every soul she ever came into contact with. She was a dear friend to many and much more to a very lucky few. She had no idea just how much she is truly loved and will be dearly missed.

Bobby Jean Barber is preceded in death by her father, Bobby Beard Sr.; her sister, Mary Stewart; two nieces, Rebecca and Elizabeth Lee Stewart; mother-in-law Peggy Barber; father-in-law Eugene Barber; brother-in-law Kelly Joe Barber; and a granddaughter, Mazelie Jean Milton.

Bobby Jean Barber is survived by her husband Christopher Dewight Barber; four daughters – Haylei Barber, Brittany Jones, Jessica Milton, and Graycee Barber; her granddaughters Zelda, Gia, Isla, Magnolia, and Peggy; her grandson Christopher Beowulf; her mother, Patricia Irene Beard; her sisters Christy and Marilyn; brothers Jonathan and Bobby Beard Jr.; sisters-in-law Lynn Barber, Brandy Barber, and Sonia Nickens; brothers-in-law Randy Barber and Jimmy Barber; her sons-in-law James Jones and Trey Milton; and many other friends and relatives. Her pallbearers are James Jones, Trey Milton, Joshua Nickens, Tony Nickens, Coby Nickens, and Cameron Williams.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation at New Life Tabernacle Church on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 1:00 PM. Brother Keith Payne will officiate services. Burial will follow in Zeigler Cemetery in Livingston. Refreshments will follow for the family at the home of Christopher Barber in Holden, Louisiana.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McLin Funeral Home. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclinfuneralhome.com

We will miss you tremendously girl! I was blessed for my mom and all of us to call you a friend, but ya'll became family over the years and I'm so grateful for that. You were always there to check on mama, and I truly appreciate the friend you were to her. You will forever be in our hearts! This photo reminds me of when ya'll invited us to the camp. You sang karaoke, and hearing you singing that day surrounded by Louisiana's beauty is a great memory I will forever cherish. I love you girl, fly high Ms. Bobby
