Mr. Jerry Overton, 77, of Hogansville GA, formerly of Newnan GA, passed away July 24, 2024, peacefully in his home. Jerry was born on January 26, 1947, in Villa Rica, GA to the late Rosa Lee Clifton Whitton Overton and Henry Lee Overton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Kay Lee Flynn Overton, sister, Linda Ann Griffith and his brother, Terry Overton.
Jerry bravely served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from July 1969 to September 1972. Jerry retired as a truck driver for Southeaster Freightliners. He enjoyed being with his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, watching his westerns, and dancing with his late wife.
Visitation will be at McKoon Funeral Home on Tuesday evening between 6-8pm, July 30, 2024, at 38 Jackson St. Newnan GA 30263. The funeral will be at McKoon Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00am with Tony Grant officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan following the service. Jerry is survived by his sons, Jerry Duane Overton & his wife Kelli Overton of Hogansville GA, Timothy Overton & his wife Sonya Overton of Lithia Springs GA, Jason Overton of Newnan GA; daughters, Kelly West & her husband Mike, Lisa Ovrevik & her husband Ryan; grandchildren: Emily Overton, Katelyn Overton, Brody Overton, Delaney Overton, Haley Overton, Nathan Overton, Kaylee Searcy, Stewart West, Rylee Ovrevik, William Ovrevik.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of Jerry Overton.
