Jerry Dale Patty, Sr., aged 82, went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends in Rock Hill, SC. Born on November 30, 1942, Jerry grew up on his family’s farm in Bradford, Ohio alongside his brother and best friend, Donald Patty.
Jerry lived a life marked by resilience, laughter, and love. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, he served his country in the Vietnam War and was both a purple heart and bronze star recipient. Later in life, he began a dedicated career as a long-haul truck driver before retiring to his little slice of heaven-on-earth in Fort Mill, SC.
Jerry was a man who found beauty in simple pleasures – enjoying the outdoors, watching NASCAR, spending time with his loyal and playful pooch Teddy, and sharing stories that made everyone smile. He was known for his generous heart and joyful spirit. He had an infectious laugh and treated everyone he met with respect and genuine care.
He is survived by his brother, loving wife Susan Plyler, children, and grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Jerry’s life at a private memorial service and celebration of life in Fort Mill, South Carolina on Tuesday, October 7, followed by a private burial in Florida.
Jerry’s legacy of kindness, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
