Lifelong Morgan County resident, Jerry Elmo Pearson, age 72, passed from his earthly life at 9:17 AM on Friday, August 29th, 2025, at the IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Jerry was the last living child of the late Elza E. and Winifred Maxine (Waterman) Pearson. He was born on Friday, January 9th, 1953, in Morgan County, Indiana.

Being one of nine children, Jerry grew up with only basic necessities, though he lived a life rich with love, kindness, and unimaginable childhood memories. He attended Martinsville schools and worked for nearly 30 years alongside his brother, Elza Jr., at Pearson's Custom Butchering in Browns Crossing. After Elza's passing, Jerry took a job at Grand Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville working as the maintenance man and he had a produce stand in Paragon. No matter where he worked, Jerry made friends everywhere along the way.

To know him was to love him! He was kind, caring and generous with a heart of gold. Jerry loved the outdoors, fishing, and socializing and never wanted others to 'fuss' over him.

Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by five brothers, Elza Pearson Jr., Francis, Toney, Gary Lee and Joseph E. Pearson and three sisters, Virginia Ray, Vernetia Turpin and Rose Ann Neal.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service celebrating Jerry's life on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM in Hilldale Cemetery, where his earthly remains will be laid to rest beside his family. Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center has been entrusted with Jerry's final arrangements.

Condolences and memories are encouraged to be shared with the Pearson family online at www.nealandsummers.com
