Jerry L. Perkins, 68, of Julesburg, Colorado, passed away September 23, 2025, at Sedgwick County Hospital.
Jerry was born November 18, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, to Ralph and Bula (Loyd) Perkins. He attended Golden High School. Over the years, Jerry worked many jobs and was skilled in a wide range of trades.
On March 21, 1996, Jerry married Brook Martin in Golden, Colorado. Together, the couple owned and operated a business specializing in the repair of exercise equipment, from reupholstery to mechanical repair, serving a five-state region. In 2008, a cancer diagnosis necessitated a change of pace for Jerry, so he reverted to industrial paint inspection, which was something he'd done in previous years. He continued in that field until his retirement in 2016.
Jerry loved motorcycles, especially his 2003 "YamaHog." Even during physical therapy, working on his bike gave him purpose and motivation. He was also a lifelong animal lover, caring for cats and dogs throughout his life. His family recalls with fondness that his parting words to Brook were that he was going off to be a caretaker of Rainbow Bridge. Jerry wanted to be remembered with the wind in his hair and his family and friends by his side.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Joyce Elaine Overby, and Jack LeRoy Perkins.
He is survived by his wife, Brook of Julesburg; son, Bruce Lee Perkins of Thornton; bonus-son, Zach Tompkins of Golden; sister, Shirley Rodgers of Sidney, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial ride for Jerry from Julesburg to Lake McConaughy will be held later next summer.
