Jerry Lee Porter, age 82, of Landers Chapel Rd. passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. He was born December 12, 1942, in Gaston County to the late Henry Lee and Euzelia McSwain Porter. Jerry was a graduate of Cherryville High School. He was formerly employed with Liberty Life Insurance Company, and Kiser Chevrolet. He then worked for many years in the banking industry and retired from First Charter Bank. Jerry was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed attending the church’s monthly widow and widower’s luncheons. He also attended his late wife’s monthly graduating class luncheons. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and would never miss a game. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and giving belly rubs to his dog, Gidget.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Carol Kiser Porter; and brother, Don Porter.
Survivors include his children, Kimberly Porter Rana of Lincolnton, Kelly Porter Johnson and husband, Michael of Greensboro, NC, and Chad Kiser Porter and wife, Tamyra Katherine Porter of Germantown, MD; grandchildren, Krishna and Ashton Rana, Katie, Megan, and Natalie Johnson, Preston, Alexis, and Loralee Porter; sisters, Carolyn and Jacob Rhyne; Frances and Gene Dellinger and Terri and Rick Childers; sister-in-law, Sandra Porter; and numerous friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Steven P. King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM prior to the service at the church.
