Laura was born on June 2, 1977 in Cleveland County, NC a daughter of Rick and Gail Ford of Lincolnton. She was a graduate of Cherryville High School class of 1995; it was there she met her high school sweetheart Brian Key. Laura went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from UNC - Charlotte. After some teaching and spending time at home with her children as they were growing up, she worked to receive her real estate license and joined her husband at the family business, Key Builders in Lincolnton. Laura was a long time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville where she served in many capacities. Her sweet spirit and contagious smile were two of her great qualities along with the special love she had for her family and most importantly her Lord.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 25 years, Brian Key of the home; a daughter, Gracie Mosteller and husband Aaron; a son Chase Key and wife, Sydney; the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Ophelia Honey Mosteller all of Lincolnton; two sisters, Susan Moss and husband Mark of Cherryville; Mary Tucker and husband Tim of Raleigh; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rev. Wayne Key and Cathy of Lincolnton. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00PM to 6:00PM on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the home, 178 Key Farmstead Lane, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville with the Revs. Keith Huss and Wayne Key officiating.
Burial will be private.
Laura loved Operation Christmas Child. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan's Purse PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
