Jerry Allen Probert, born on August 17, 1940, in Barton County, Missouri, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas. He lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and affection for his family. Jerry's journey took him from the fields of dairy farming to the busy roads as a truck driver, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

Early in his career, Jerry spent 19 years working as a dairy farmer, where he developed an extraordinary work ethic that remained with him throughout his life. He served in various jobs over the next 16 years, notably with the Carthage Fire Department as a firefighter and later as a truck driver for Leggett & Platt. In 1975, Jerry returned to his roots in farming, dedicating himself full-time to this rewarding lifestyle until 1990, when he embarked on a new chapter as a truck driver for Yellow Freight. His retirement in 2007 marked the end of a long and fulfilling career, one he approached with integrity and dedication that was admired by many.

Those who knew Jerry will fondly remember not only his steadfast commitment to work but also his remarkable homemade BBQ sauce, a creation made with friends in batches of 15 gallons that gathered friends and family around the table, sharing laughter and wonderful memories. Despite his fierce temper, which often belied his gentle nature, Jerry's closest friends and family cherished him for his unwavering loyalty and compassion for those in need. Behind his rugged exterior lay a soft spirit that cared deeply for his loved ones.

Jerry graduated from Golden City High School in the class of 1958, marking the start of a journey that would lead him to all walks of life. He embraced adventure and family life through camping trips at Table Rock Lake, riding dirt bikes with his son in chat piles, and serene canoeing excursions along the Spring River. These moments painted the backdrop of a life well-lived, filled with love and laughter.

His pride in his career at Yellow Freight and his tireless efforts on the farm paled in comparison to the joy he felt for his son Mark and his grandchildren, Allison Williams (Caden) and Alex Probert. They were his true legacy, a source of immense pride and happiness that he cherished beyond measure.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Connie Probert; his son, Mark Probert (Susan); granddaughter, Allison Williams (Caden); grandson, Alex Probert; sister, Doris Earl; brother-in-law, Gary Tindill (Verna); step sons, Jon Walker (Sue Ellen) and Jeff Walker (Theresa),and their children and grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Deanna Probert, his father, Max Probert, his mother, Francis Louise Probert (Woods), and his sisters, Maxine Probert and Arlene Smith (Probert).

As we remember Jerry Allen Probert, let us celebrate his remarkable journey, his hard work, and the love he cultivated in his lifetime—a legacy that will carry on through the lives he touched and the family he cherished so dearly.
