Jerry A. Raitz

Jerry A. Raitz, 79, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, on January 10, 1947, to Arthur and Gladys (Travis) Raitz. He would graduate from Waite High School and go on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jerry earned a Bronze Star during his time in the Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne. After his service to his country, Jerry went on to The University of Toledo earning his Bachelor's Degree. On May 28, 1977, he married the love of his life, Carol (Kazmierczak), and together they would create many fond memories. He worked as a Licensed Optician for 43 years, starting at Toledo Health and Retiree before retiring from Optivue in 2011. He was a member of VFW Post 2898. Jerry was an avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Lions and Tigers. He also loved cheering for The Ohio State University. Jerry always took meticulous care of his lawn, enjoyed cooking, target shooting, and working on cars, especially his '65 Chevy.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol Raitz; son, Ian Raitz; grandson, Ethan Raitz; and sister, Beverly Berger. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lena Raitz.

The family will greet friends at Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Oregon Chapel, 440 S. Coy Rd., Oregon, Ohio, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
