Jerry Edward Reed, of Akron, Ohio passed away on May 13, 2024. Jerry was born on November 9, 1931, in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from East High School in 1950 and joined the United States Navy in January of 1951. While on brief leave from the Navy he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Crew, in Akron, Ohio. He continued his naval career as a Sonar Man serving on the USS Dace, and USS Croaker and was honorably discharged in November of 1954.
He returned to Akron and he and Mary wed in August of 1958. Jerry was a career Fireman at Akron Station #2 and retired after 32 years of exemplary service.
Jerry and Mary spent sixty-five years together traveling across the US, creating lifelong friendships, and helping countless people along the way. Jerry was a faithful and devoted husband, brother, uncle, cousin, fireman and friend who in his estimation "caught my fair share of fish."

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, Ohio where services will be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Darrell Frazier officiating.
Interment at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Arlington Church of the Nazarene, 1057 Triplett Boulevard, Akron, Ohio 44306.
