MUNCIE- Jerry L. Sarah, 86, passed away on Sunday evening, July 27, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 13, 1939 in Muncie, the son of John David and Omecha (Summers) Sarah and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1957. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps from 1958-1960. Jerry met Lynn L. Ropple in 1955 and they were married on October 10, 1959. They immediately traveled to California where he was stationed as a Marine at Camp Pendleton. After his tour of duty was completed, they moved back to Muncie in December of 1960.
He worked for Stuby Tires for 25 years and City Machine for 20 years. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, spending time at North Webster Lake and his weekly meals with friends. He was instrumental in planning reunions and luncheons for the Muncie Central Class of 1957.
Surviving are two daughters, Kimberly Kirts and Stephanie (Matt) Ross; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Derek) Hancock, Hannah (Chris) Daugherty, Heather (Bradley) Strout, Cameron (Mackenzie) Sarah, Cyler (Karrie) Sarah, Whitney (Eric) Bousman and Faith Ross (Jacob Downard); great-grandchildren, Aaron, Adalynn, Axel, Andrew, Keegan, Malachi, Nathan, Calan, Myla, Adley, Amira, Adera, Kyra, Reagan, Annistyn, Palmer, baby Bousman (coming soon) and great grand-dog Penske; a sister-in-law, Carol (Elmo) Shelton; a brother-in-law, Jack (Laura) Ropple; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sarah (Andrew Zickgraf); his lifelong friend and breakfast buddy, Gayle Harrold; and his faithful Yorkie companion, Snoopy.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Lynn Sarah on June 10, 2021; a son, Craig Sarah; a granddaughter, Mallorie; son-in-law, Dennis Kirts; and his brother and sister-in-law, David "Gene" and Dorothy Sarah.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Jim Ballenger officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery, with full military honors provided by The United States Marine Corps and the Veterans of Delaware County.
Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, or one hour prior to services on Saturday.
