With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jerry Sherrow, a man whose warmth, wisdom, and willingness to lend a hand made the world a brighter place. Jerry passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1st at the age of 77 the way that he wanted it with his loving family by his side. As he enters the Kingdom of Heaven, Jerry leaves behind a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. Jerry was born on March 26th, 1947, in Richmond, Indiana, the son of John and Helen Sherrow. Jerry was a graduate of Randolph Southern High School in 1965. He loyally served in the Army National Guard. Jerry worked with GTE and the Verizon Phone Company for 43 years, a job he started in high school as a summer job. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 732 for 40 years. He married his loving wife, Tina Huddleston Sherrow, on June 20th, 1992 and remained faithfully married for 32 years. Jerry was a man of many talents and endless curiosity. He seemed to know just about everything, whether it was fixing a broken appliance, solving a tricky problem, or offering sound advice when you needed it most. His vast knowledge wasn't just practical-he understood the art of life and the importance of sharing it with others. Always ready to roll up his sleeves and help, Jerry was the first to volunteer when something needed to be done, whether for family, friends, or even strangers. His sense of humor and quick wit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He seemed to always have a humorous word, a funny story, and a big smile to bring joy to others. Jerry was a foodie with an unusual palette, a true connoisseur and lover of the unusual (hold the salt). He found incredible joy in traveling to new places, particularly in his fifth wheel. He often told stories of his travels with family and friends. Jerry is survived by his wife Tina Sherrow; daughter, Leigh Ann (Robert) McLellan; son, Gregory Sherrow; daughter, Mandy (Keith) Belcher; daughter, Megan (Jessica) Wright; daughter, Bobbi (Rich) Beckham; sister, Janice (Kenny) Robbins; 17 grandchildren, Fiona & Chase McClellan, Devon & Brittany Smith, Kyren & Kalic Banks, Karleigh & Addison Sherrow, Luna Ledbetter, William & Arden Belcher, Maria, Myles, and Mya Oliphant, Josslyn Orme, and R.J. & Briggs Beckham. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Sherrow; brother, Robert Sherrow; and grandchildren, Draven and Malik Ledbetter. May we all continue to honor Jerry's memory by living with the same kindness, curiosity, and joy that he brought into this world. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024, 3:00PM at the Compass Church in Winchester, IN with Jeremy Duncan officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service beginning at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Jerry's memory by helping someone in need-just as he so often did for others.
