Jerry Snow, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, mentor, veteran, coach, part-time car salesman and community pillar, passed away surrounded by the family he so fiercely loved. His life was marked by extraordinary strength, deep devotion, and quiet, enduring courage that shaped every person who had the blessing of knowing him.
Born with the heart of an athlete and the soul of a leader, Jerry first made his mark on the football field, where he became a standout star at Allen High, Ada High, Oklahoma State, and East Central University. Known for grit, discipline, and integrity-those traits followed him into every chapter of his life. His passion for the game never faded, and later in life he would return to football as a linebacker coach for East Central University, helping shape young athletes with the same guidance and character that defined him. One of his coaching highlights was winning the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference in 1980.
Jerry carried that same sense of duty into his long and distinguished military career. As a proud United States Army veteran, he served his country faithfully for more than 40 years, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major. His service spanned generations, leaving a legacy of honor, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment. Whether he was near home or halfway across the world, Jerry approached every mission with the same determination that made him a leader both in uniform and in life.
His dedication to veterans continued through his work at East Central University, where he served as Coordinator of Veteran Affairs, advocating for and supporting those who served in the military, whether it was active or retired. His impact grew even further as he rose to become the Dean of Students-guiding countless young people with wisdom, compassion, and his hallmark steady presence.
Of all his titles and achievements, the role Jerry cherished most was simply being a family man. He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, a loving uncle, a supportive brother-in-law, and the undeniable rock of his family. But the center of his world-the anchor of every decision, every hope, and every joy-was his wife, Lynn. Married for nearly 60 years, their love story was the foundation of Jerry's life. Together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering support. To Jerry, Lynn was not just his wife but his partner, his confidante, and the love of his life. He leaves behind Lynn, who remained his partner in all things-his comfort, his joy, and the greatest blessing of his earthly journey.
Above all, Jerry's heart belonged to his children, Trevor and Lindsay. He poured his love, wisdom, and unwavering support into their lives, guiding them with the same integrity and compassion that defined his every action. Jerry celebrated their achievements, comforted them in times of challenge, and took immense pride in the people they became. His bond with Trevor and Lindsay was a source of endless joy and strength, and his devotion as a father will remain a cherished legacy.
Jerry is remembered for his calm strength, his gentle humor, his unwavering loyalty, and his profound ability to show up-every day, for every person who needed him. His impact will continue to echo through his family, the students and athletes he mentored, the veterans he served, and the countless lives he touched without seeking recognition or praise.
Jerry lived with purpose, loved without hesitation, and gave of himself freely. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the countless lives he touched. The impact of his life will continue to echo through his family and all who were fortunate enough to call him friend.
He will be deeply missed, and his legacy of service, love, humility, and devotion will live on in all who have the honor of knowing him.
