Jerry Solich Obituary

Jerry Michael Solich, 64, of Yulee, Florida passed away on October 23, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born on April 4, 1961 in Verdun, France to the late Joseph and Sharon (Snyder) Solich as the 6th of what would become 9 children. He grew up in Johnstown, PA and attended St Benedict's Catholic School through middle school. Jerry was a 1979 graduate of Richland High School where he was a stand out running back for the school's football team. Jerry continued his football career as a walk-on running back at Pitt during the team's 1980 Fiesta  Bowl Championship season. In January of 1981 Jerry joined the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate in the Nuclear Submarine Program. Jerry proudly served his country for the next 22 years as a submariner, instructor and LDO regulator. He retired as a Lieutenant in April 2003 and continued working with the Navy as a contractor for the next 7 years. Jerry then began working for Johnson & Johnson as a manufacturing supervisor until his death.
Jerry met the love of his life, Debora (Dutcher) while on military assignment in Ballston Spa, NY. He and Debi married on February 16, 1985 and began their life together. As a military family they moved several times over the next 18 years, welcoming two children Jerry Matthew and Katelyn along the way. He enjoyed coaching football, cruising, fishing and hunting with his father, brothers, nephews, son and grandson. He was well known for his love of dogs and had recently taken up competitive dock diving with his yellow lab, Bailey. Jerry was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, never missing an opportunity to spend time with those he loved.
Jerry is survived by his adoring wife Debi Solich of Yulee, Fl, son Jerry Matthew (Elysia) Solich of Round Hill, VA and Katelyn (Chris) Holton of Yulee, FL. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Molly, Madelyn and Ethan Solich and Lincoln Holton as well as siblings Donald Joseph, Mary Jane, James, Janet, Julie, Jill, Justin and many nieces, nephews and friends. Jerry is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Sharon Solich as well as his brother John Solich.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 28 at 2:30pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL)  with a reception to follow at the Timbercreek Plantation clubhouse (76117 Timbercreek Blvd, Yulee, FL).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry's honor to the Mayo Clinic (www.give.mayoclinic.org) or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.themmrf.org)

My deepest condolences to the Solich family. Jerry and I attended St Benedict´s and Richland Jr High together. We were both running backs often competing for that coveted FB position.
My fondest memories of Jerry are the championship game against St Clement´s. Well we lost that game but gave it our all!! RIP MY FRIEND!
