Jerry grew up near Tuscaloosa, AL and was a loyal Crimson Tide fan. He started his military service with the Army National guard at the age of 15 as a dump truck driver. His commanding officer routinely put Jerry at the front of the convoy to ensure their timely arrival. He then served in the U.S. Navy as an Interior Communications Electrician 2nd class, and eventually as Chief Petty Officer 2nd class. After having been honorably discharged from the Navy and starting a family, he moved to LaGrange where he owned and operated a Royal Crown Cola distributorship. He eventually owned and operated The Sign Shop in the same location. Jerry was an avid motor sports participant and enthusiast (motorcycles, stock cars, go carts, jet boat). He enjoyed hunting and deep-sea fishing with family and friends for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Pruitt officiating. Entombment will follow at the Shadowlawn Mausoleum. Family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 pm.
