Mr. Jerry Wiley, 80, life-long resident of Maury County, died Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Wiley will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. William Robert Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests that masks be worn and the CDC guidelines for social distancing be followed. Born on June 23, 1941 in Maury County, he was the son of the late William Leslie Wiley and the late Iva Mae McCollum Wiley Woodard. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School Class of 1959 and went on to serve in the Army National Guard for a short period of time. On April 16, 1966 he married Mary Omie King Wiley whom preceded him in death on February 22, 2010. He was employed by BellSouth for nearly 30 years where he was a cable splicer and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed road trips, garage sales, and was a patron saint to stray animals.
Survivors include his son, William Robert (Angie) Wiley of Lebanon; niece, Connie (Salvatore) Inghilleri of Columbia; sister-in-law, Sharon King (Kenneth Loden) of Ashford, Alabama; special friend, Edna Waters of Columbia; nephew, Mark Amis of Shady Grove.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Ted Wiley and sister, Charlotte Irwin Wiley Attkisson (Elbert).
Pallbearers will be Jeff Foster, Rodney Patterson, Jimmy Waters, Jeff Helgren, and Bill Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be former co-workers with BellSouth.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Maury County Animal Shelter 1233 Mapleash Avenue Columbia, Tennessee 38401.
