Jerry Bill Wright, 87-year-old Afton resident, passed away May 22, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born May 2, 1937, in Afton, Oklahoma to Carl Dee and Loreane (Grundon) Wright. He married Susan Booth on March 15, 1968, in Washington.
Jerry was a jack of all trades and was always working. He last worked as a maintenance and mechanic technician for Cresep’s Anheuser-Busch Distribution facility in Vinita. Everyone that knew Jerry knew that he was very handy, a diligent worker, and would help anyone that was in need.
Jerry Bill was an outdoorsman of sorts. He loved his family, friends, gardening, camping, hunting & fishing. Some say he was the best campfire maker in all the land. It didn’t matter rain or shine; everyone knew where they could find a nice warm fire to cozy up to. For many years he loved making his property look like a beautiful park. He was delighted to be able to feed the birds & the deer and watch them in the yard. Most of all he loved his wife of 56 years, Susan Melanie Wright.
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by a loving family including his wife, Susan Wright of the home; children; Jerrilene Wright Zarb of Miami, Terry Wright of Miami, Karl Wright of Georgia, Yavonna Wright Bolding of Muskogee, Beth Long of Collinsville, Marjorie Corder of Ochelata, Robin Fairsheets (Ronnie) of Guthrie, Robert Long (Tammy) of Vinita; sister, Martha Chandler (Mack) of Grove; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Wright; and sister, Jane Darden. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jerry's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on June 21, 2024, at the Afton First Assembly of God in Afton, Oklahoma.
