Jesse Lee Alexander Jr., 81, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Stanley Total Living Center.
Jess was born July 31, 1943 in Concord, NC, to the late Jesse Lee Alexander Sr. and the late Bertha Lee Wise Alexander. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Anderson Alexander; and son, Bryan Monroe Alexander.
Jess graduated Mt. Pleasant High School and went to Nashville Auto Diesel College. After graduating college, he taught auto mechanics at Mt. Pleasant High School. Jess began his career as a truck mechanic and later operated his own shop, "Alexander Truck Service" in Harrisburg. He loved fishing so much that he acquired his captain's license, so he and Linda could fish off the shores of North and South Carolina. They would travel to the beach to fish about every other weekend. He was also past president/member of Charlotte Off-shore Fishing Club. The one thing he loved more than his kids was his 1940 Ford Coupe, which he purchased at 15 years old and drove to high school and college. After a loooooong restoration, Jess' Coupe finally got completed in 2023 and he was able to drive it and enjoy it. He enjoyed going to the Auto Fair, Carolina Picker's Festival and the Good Guys Show. Jess loved vintage drag racing and SunDrop. His second love was his dog, Marley. Jess always had a sense of humor and enjoyed cutting up with his friends. He recommitted his life to Christ a few years ago and was forever changed.
Survivors include son, Rodney Lee (Malia) Alexander of Gastonia; daughter, Lori Denise Alexander of Concord; step-daughters, Kim Stevens Waller and Sharon (James) Whittemore; grandchildren, Jamie (Lisa), Jessica (David), Melissa (Jeff), Tiffany (Phil), Samantha (Josh), Michael, Taylor, Tristan, Brannon, Madison (Chris), and Rayne; great-grandchildren, Emily, Gabriel, Elijah, Jaden, Harrison, Jack, Dakota, Jacey, Astrid, Jaxon, Olyvia, Jacob, Graham, Madaline, Logan, Harper and Kolby; and sister, Carol Alexander, Miami, FL.
