Dr. Jesse R. Fain went to his Heavenly home at the age of 96, on Thursday, March 31, 2022. A resident of Lubbock for 28 years, formerly of Littlefield, Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at South Plains Church of Christ, in Lubbock on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 2:00 PM.

Dr. Jesse R. Fain was born in Dallas, Texas on December 23, 1925, to Herbert and Ruth Fain. He attended Sunset High School in Dallas. He then spent 2 ½ years in the US Navy during World War II, assigned to the Pacific Fleet as a Navy Pharmacist Mate Corpsman. Dr. Fain married Tommie Randol (now deceased) in 1947. They were blessed with three children, a son Sam (now deceased), and twin daughters, Margaret, and Kelly. Tommie's death was after 41 years of a good marriage. He attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene Texas, graduating with a degree in chemistry and biology in 1949. Further studies were at The University of Texas in Austin, working on a Master of Biochemistry degree. The next step was four years at Southwestern Medical School of The University of Texas, in Dallas Texas, where he graduated with a medical degree, in June 1954. His internship and residency were at Scott & White Hospital and Clinic in Temple Texas. Dr. Fain then went to a full medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric, and cardiology practice at the Medical Arts Hospital and Clinic in Littlefield, Texas before moving to the Littlefield Clinic and Hospital two years later. He worked at the hospital and clinic until retiring at age 72, in September of 1998. It was 43 years of surgery, delivering babies, and emergency work where he stated, "the families he treated make him part of their families with love."

Dr. Fain was a member of Lamb County Medical Society, serving in multiple positions in its 4 county group. He was a member of The Texas Academy of General and Family Practice, The American Academy of Family Practice, The American Medical Society, the Texas Medical Society, and The Phi Chi Medical Fraternity of Physicians. He served for three years as an assistant faculty member of Texas Tech Medical School of Lubbock, teaching externs, who spent time in Littlefield Clinic and Hospital, as a practical part of their medical training, learning how the practice of medicine was to be for them. Dr. Fain was one of the founders of Lubbock Christian College. Jesse was a deacon at Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield, and a member of South Plains Church of Christ in Lubbock.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Brawley Fain of 32 years; daughters, Margaret Bishop and Kelly Jackson; grandchildren, Greg Jackson, Haley (Anthony) Tarango, Carrie (Brenton) Hennrikus, Reid Bishop, Lance Bishop, Brett (Jenna) Bishop; great-grandchildren, Cameron Jackson, Rosie Bishop, Max Wesley Bishop, and John Wesley Bishop.

Dr. Fain was preceded in death by his first wife, Tommie Fain; son, Sam Fain; his parents, Herbert, and Ruth Fain; siblings, Ida Marie Hinton, Bill Fain, and Patsy Fain; sons-in-law, Don Jackson, and Wesley Bishop.

The family mourns the loss of this illustrious physician but celebrates his passing to a new and greater home in Heaven. The family also would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, please donate in Dr. Jesse R. Fain's memory to Lubbock Christian University or Children's Home of Lubbock.
