H D Lamberth, 86, of Lubbock, and loving husband of Carolyn (Hartsell) Lamberth, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2025. Mr. Lamberth was born on April 2, 1939, in Hobbs, Lea County, New Mexico, to the late Herman Debbs Lamberth and Evelyn (Shelton) Lamberth.
He attended schools in Carlsbad, graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1957. He furthered his education by attending Abilene Christian College from 1957 to 1958, the University of Arizona from 1958 to 1959, Lubbock Christian College from 1959 to 1961, and then to Texas Tech University from 1961 to 1965 where he obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering.
He met the love of his life, Carolyn Hartsell, and they were united in marriage on February 23, 1961, in Lubbock, Texas.
H D and Carolyn owned and operated the Western Auto in Carlsbad from 1974 to 1983 and then Lamberth True Value Hardware from 1983 until his retirement in 2002. H D was aa family man to the heart and enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He was a hard worker all of his life, which was proved by his success. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Carolyn; a son, Derek Lamberth of Houston; one daughter, Melissa (Donnie) Ditto of Lubbock; one sister, Vina (Bruce) Erkkila of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; a brother, George (Sharri) of Colleyville, Texas and a brother in law, Larry Hartsell of Tyler; four grandchildren: Lindsey Lamberth of Houston, Allison Lamberth Deines (Cade) of Boerne, Hunter Lamberth of Houston and Connor (Morgan) Lamberth of Katy; three great-grandchildren: Theodore Deines, Harrison Deines and Nolan Lamberth expected in October; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Theresa Williams; brother in law, Richard Williams and in-laws, C B and Ruby Hartsell.
The family will be holding a memorial service at 1 PM on Saturday, September 13, in the Primrose Retirement Community’s Club House, 10003 Upland Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79424, which will be led by the family. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send donations, in memory of H D, to the Mountain View Christian Camp, c/o Sunset Church of Christ, 1308 W. Blodgett Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220 or to the African Mission at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ, 1701 Quaker Avenue, Lubbock, TX 79416.
