Jesse James Hampton (71) of Union, New Jersey, passed away on January 10, 2025. A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts.
Jesse was born to parents Eleanora Hampton and Charles Brown, on July 27, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia. He moved to New Jersey when he was 10 years old.
After graduating from Westside High School in Newark NJ, Jesse went to a trade school to become a carpenter. He was a carpenter for over 40 years until his retirement in 2016. After his retirement, he continued to work as a carpenter.
Jesse married Linda Hagans in 1976, who survives him. Jesse is also survived by Daughter Dara (Elliott Sr.) Lynn, Son Kori (Jill) Hampton, Daughter Angela Renea Hagans, 11 Grandchildren Qua'Derha, Elliott Jr., Essence, Kyara, Kamari, Quadaiza, Brianna, Tre-Jmine, Corrie, Sharay, and Justin,1 Great Granddaughter Zuri, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jesse was predeceased by parents Eleanora Hampton and Charles Brown.
Jesse was known for his love of baseball and was an avid Mets fan. He saw his team play in the World Series. He was an avid football fan, particularly for the New York Giants, and loved watching western movies.
Jesse is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who cared deeply for his family and those who had the joy of calling him a friend.
