It is said that there are three words in the English vocabulary that are more solemn than all the others. They are Life, Death and Eternity. Life is more solemn than death: to live is more serious than to die. The object of Christ' death was life.
The soul of Superintendent Jessie Lee Hodges was required of the Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Superintendent Jessie L. Hodges was on September 10, 1930, in Drew, Mississippi to the late Jessie James Hodges and Christine (Releford) Hodges.
Superintendent Jessie L. Hodges served as Pastor of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ for over Forty (40) Years, in
South Bend, Indiana. He became a member of Christ Temple at approximately nineteen (19) years old, under the leadership of Superintendent E.A McNeely.
Superintendent Hodges was the District Superintendent of the Judah District, and an Executive Board Member of the 4th Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Indiana North Central, under the leadership of Bishop Donald L. Alford, Sr. Jurisdictional Prelate.
Superintendent Jesse L. Hodges was born in Drew, Mississippi. When at the age of two (2) years old his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Superintendent Hodges was saved at an early age and was the first one to be baptized at Mason Temple C.O.G.I.C. He has been a member of the Church Of God In Christ for well over Seventy-Eight Years (78).

Superintendent Hodges was educated in the Memphis Public School System. He furthered his studies extensively being interested in Church Polity, (not church policy), Church Polity, which is Church Government and related subjects. He taught Church Polity in the C. H. Mason Bible College, where the Overseer Charles H. Mason was a student in his class. Superintendent Jesse L. Hodges is an astute student in the Pauline Epistles. Superintendent Jesse L. Hodges had a vast knowledge of the Church of God in Christ's history, having been acquainted with and working in various positions under the tutelage of the pioneers of our International Church. Superintendent Hodges served as President and organizer of the youth department under our founding Father, The Bishop Charles H. Mason, He worked with his pastor and leader, the late Bishop J. O. Patterson Sr., Bishop A. B. McKuen, and later the late Bishop Louis Henry Ford in Chicago, IL. He was the Youth Leader for the E.A McNeely District along with Chairlady Evangelist Pamela Harris. Pastor Hodges has worked Revivals throughout the Southern States and Michiana area

Superintendent Jesse L. Hodges was a strong man of Faith and strongly believed in the power of prayer, he was a man of Great Faith and has testified of having seen many Miracles in his lifetime. He was highly Anointed and a true man of God. He was No -Non-Sense Man. He was kind and Loved each of his Church Members dearly. It wasn't a Holiday that came that he didn't give each member something whether large or small. He was truly a Kindhearted Giving Man!

Hodges was married to Sister Leah McClure Hodges, the Mother of his four (4) children who has gone from labor to reward. He is the Father of Sharon H. (husband Larry) Butler of Somerset, New Jersey, and Kathy A. Hodges of
South Bend, IN. The Late Tobias S. Wolf, now (Robert L. Hodges) and the Late Denise H. Pulley. A brother Terry Hodges and sister Peggy Hodges both of
South Bend, IN One Son In-Law George Pulley of Wilson, North Carolina. Two Granddaughters, Je'Leah Butler of Somerset, New Jersey and Gen-nette Pulley of Wilson, North Carolina. Two Grandsons, Michael Pulley and Jonathan Pulley of Wilson, North Carolina. Special nephew Chester Roberts, and His Much-Loved Fur Baby "Kasper"
In addition to his parents and two children Superintendent Hodges was preceded in death by siblings Luster Hodges, Paul Hodges, Grace Roberts, Earnestine Hodges, Leah Hodges, and Patricia Hodges.
