Jesse "Jess" Mosley Marshall, Sr. of St. Charles, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 in the St. James Missouri Veterans Home at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 7 days. He was born August 1, 1931 in Charleston, MO to John Harris Marshall and Elizabeth Mosley Marshall.
Jess graduated from Charleston High School in 1950 where he was active in ROTC, band and sports. After graduating he attended Southeast Missouri State Univ. in Cape Girardeau. Not long after, he joined the U.S. Air Force, servicing honorably from 1952-1955 being stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict as a radar analyst. After returning to the United States, he attended University of Missouri-Columbia. There he met his future wife, Alma Halbert. On February 14, 1959, he and Alma were united in marriage and to this union one son and one daughter were born.
Jess was employed at McDonnell Douglas in building fighter jets and also became a tech representative traveling to Vietnam checking and testing those jets. He became a lead Aviator Engineer with top secret clearance during his working years there. He later worked with test pilots in Ft. Leonard Wood, retiring from Boeing after 30 plus years.
He was a faithful member and active on the financial board of the Faith United Methodist Church in St. Charles for several years. He maintained a position on the Geology Board at MU for a number of years and helped raise funds for Central Methodist University in Fayette. Jess also was a life-long member of the American Legion, a St. Louis Cardinals fan, a huge Mizzou fan along with keeping up with the campus activities, a devoted sports fan with Alma of St. Charles West High School where she was a teacher for several years and loved traveling with her throughout the U.S. and Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Marshall; his wife, Alma Marshall; two brothers, John and Herbert Marshall; and sister, Nanetta Brame.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Jesse Mosley Marshall, Jr. of Steelville, MO; one daughter, Beth (Mike) Frohbieter of St. Charles, MO; three grandchildren, Nathan (Heather) Frohbieter, Matthew (Ashlee) Frohbieter and Emily (Brian) Pelham; five great-grandchildren, Ellye Pelham, Everly Frohbieter, Marshall Frohbieter, Benjamin Pelham and Baylee Frohbieter; brother-in-law, Lewis Edward (Orien) Halbert of Billings, MO; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 with Pastor Ed Love officiating with Troy Marshall reading scripture, Joan Love reading the obituary and memories shared by Z. Marshall. Special music of "What a Day That Will Be" and "Goodness of God" was sung by Ashlee and Matthew Frohbieter and Brian Pelham with him on piano. Other music of "Amazing Grace" was sung a cappella by Al Marshall.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Pleasant Point Cemetery, Steelville, MO with Full Military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
Honored to be casket bearers were Tim Marshall, Edward Marshall, A.H. Marshall, Nathan Frohbieter, Matthew Frohbieter and Brian Pelham.
Memorials be given to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, c/o of Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
