Jesse B. Russell, Jr., passed from this life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1947, to Jesse Russell, Sr., and Myrtle Russell. He was a lifelong Little River County resident, the debatable sheriff of Panco, at least his friend Tillie would sometimes let him think he was.
He retired from Ash Grove Cement after 36 years. These were very enjoyable years for him, and he made many friends there. He was most definitely a people person. He loved to talk to anyone about everything, most precisely about his coon hounds and hunting. More recently, he would want to talk to you about his little great-grand girls. He was so very proud of all his family.
Jesse was preceded in death by his son, Mark, his parents, and his sisters, Lilian Golightly and Marie Oglesby.
He is survived by his wife, Lynda, daughter, Michelle Fondren (Billy), grandsons, Michael Fondren (Ren) Ethan Russell (Kristen), granddaughters, Brailee Shumake (Gregory), and Emily Spencer (Tom), and the lights of his life great granddaughters, Wrenley Russell, Maggie May Spencer, Lily Kate Shumake and Lila Jade Shumake, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Russell.
He is also survived by his sister, Bessie Higginbotham, numerous nieces and nephews, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including Dale Oglesby, whom he loved as a brother, as he was the one who brought him to our Lord many years ago and truly made him his brother.
Jesse was a Christian and was a member of the Church of Christ. He touched many lives in his journey on this earth.
A memorial service for Jesse will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Church of Christ in Foreman with Morris Johnson officiating.
