Jessie Boyd

Services for Jessie Sue Boyd, 74, of Allen, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Allen School Auditorium, with Rev. Bobby Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Allen Chapel.

Mrs. Boyd passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Allen. She was born on October 5, 1950, in Belleville, Illinois, to Frank Spitler and Wanda (Gray) Spitler.

On July 3, 1971, she married the love of her life, Danny Boyd, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years. Together, they raised a family and shared a passion for riding motorcycles-an activity that brought her great joy and freedom. They also raised horses and cattle throughout their years in Allen, in addition to raising their two children, April and Travis.

A devoted caregiver and nurturing soul, Mrs. Boyd was the proud owner and operator of a home daycare, which she ran for over 30 years, earning a reputation known widely as Meme Sue. Through this work, she became a guiding presence in the lives of countless children and families, forming bonds that lasted far beyond childhood. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched with patience, compassion, and love.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by her son, Travis Boyd of Allen; her daughter, April Whitehead of Allen; her brother, Gary Pannell; and her beloved grandchildren, Colton Howard, Caden Howard, and Grasyn Whitehead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Wanda Spitler; her husband, Danny Boyd; and her brother, Mike Pannell.

Pallbearers will be Colton Johnson, Grey Sanders, Cody Wainscott, Caden Howard, Colton Howard, Kylan Sanders, and Jim Melton.

Meme Sue will be remembered for her generous spirit, her dedication to children, and the deep love she had for her family and community. There wasn't a ballgame or event she wasn't packed and ready to attend, complete with snacks, blankets, and a plethora of Hot Hands for the kids. Her unending faith and love will live on in the lives she has touched all these years.
